How to Build Relationships Remotely
Looking to find new friends or build relationships in a new industry or area of interest? Here are some solutions for connecting remotely:
- Coffee Breaks and Lunch
- Organize having on-camera coffee or lunch together. A good table setter can be discussing what you both are currently drinking or having for lunch
- Host a Study Lab
- A study lab can act as a virtual co-working space. Create a day and time for people to drop in, say Hi, and work together virtually. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a study lab environment, welcoming and quiet.
- Create a mini- Summit
- Looking for advice in your dream industry but don’t know where to start?. Host a virtual event. This may take some time to plan and execute but the payoff may be worth it ( plus, it’s a win in building project management skills). Find groups on LinkedIn, Meet-up.com, or Reddit based on topics that interest you. Invite 3-4 users to discuss their journey, expertise, and advice. Market the event on social media. Moderate and ask questions.
